In 1961, George married Martha. After their wedding, George and Martha spent their honeymoon in Hawaii. This trip was the first of many over the next fifty years. They traveled all over the United States, including Alaska. George and Martha enjoyed the time that they spent with their family, and their traveling companion Margie Kidon, on cruises to the Caribbean and Bermuda. When taking a break from their travels, Martha and George worked side by side for fifty years and together opened "George and Martha's Salon" located in Detroit before moving to Outer Drive in Dearborn. During his time as a hairdresser, George had many loyal and long term costumers that eventually became close friends.
George was known as a loving husband, caring father, and proud grandfather. He was very involved in Derek, Alexander and Michelle's life as they grew. George also enjoyed meeting with his church buddies once a week for a game of poker. He was always keeping busy with swimming classes, tai chi, and taking his son’s dog Ollie on long walks George was the loving husband of the late Martha for 51 years. He is survived by his son, Gregory (Denise) Michailuk and grandchildren, Derek, Alexander and Michelle Michailuk. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Michailuk and Ivan Michailuk, sister, Mary Danielak and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 2 to 8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd., in Livonia. A Panakhyda will be held at 7pm on Sunday. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 26667 Joy Rd., in Dearborn Heights. Friends may visit the church beginning at 9:30am.
