Emil Majeski, age 83, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on Friday December 14, 2018. Emil was born August 14, 1935 in Kinde, Michigan. Emil was a proud alumnus of Eastern Michigan University, where he played football for the “Hurons”. He went on to teach for nearly 40 years at Redford Thurston High School, where he coached football, baseball and golf. While coaching the Thurston Varsity baseball team between 1965 – 1999 he compiled a record of 477 wins and 291 loses. He won 12 conference championships, 6 district championships, 4 regional championships, 1 state runner-up and the 1984 MHSAA State Championship. In 1991 he was inducted into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Associate Hall of Fame and was also awarded with 4 regional Coach of the Year honors. In 1999, his last year coaching baseball, he was named the Detroit News Metro Baseball Coach of the Year. In 2010, the South Redford School district honored Emil’s impact and legacy by naming the baseball field at Redford Thurston High School - Majeski Field.
Emil is survived by; daughter Emily (Mark) Whitney; and son Matthew (Melissa) Majeski; sister Delores Kretz, brother Kenneth Majeski, brother Alfred Majeski and sister Geneieve Galka; grandchildren Cameron Whitney, Tyler Whitney, Hannah Whitney, Griffin Majeski, Macie Majeski and Marley Majeski; former wife Nancy Majeski.
Emil was preceded in death by; brother Eugene Majeski; brother Ralph Majeski; brother Albin Majeski and brother Donald Majeski; parents Felix and Agnes Majeski.
A funeral in state for Emil will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 9:00 AM at St Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48152 with a funeral mass at 10:00 AM.
