Carol Geraldine Smith, age 87, of Westland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024. She was born on February 7, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Bruce and Ruth Smith. Carol was a loving and dedicated member of her family, a loyal friend, and an active member of her community.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Ruth Smith, her two brothers, Douglas (Carmen) and Ronald Smith, as well as her nieces and nephews, Karen (Henry) McClintock, David Smith, Gayle Angelosanto, and James Smith, and great-nephew, Sean Smith. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Michele (Rick) Perry, Bruce Smith, Veronica (Mark) Minsky, Laura (Morgan) Walker, Richard Smith, sister-in-law, Joan Smith, nephew-in-law, Phil Angelosanto and great nieces and nephews, Steve McClintock, Kelly Kar, Gina Evenson, Phil Angelosanto, Laura Mazaris and Chase Perry. She also leaves behind 12 great-great-nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Carol was an active and devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star Masonic Group, alongside her parents, and she found great joy in being involved with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dearborn Heights. Her passion for helping others extended to her participation in Clown School, where she became “Rosie” the Clown. She loved putting on clown shows for children at the church and at community events, spreading joy and laughter to all who attended.
Known affectionately as "Kay Kay" to her family, Carol enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, traveling, and knitting. She was deeply involved in her church community, where she made lasting friendships that enriched her life.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Carol will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization that was dear to her heart.
Carol’s kind spirit, warm heart, and loving presence will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
