Andrew Joseph Vermiglio, age 79 of Farmington Hills, Michigan passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024. Andy was born in Detroit on March 18, 1945, to Andrew and Jennie Vermiglio. He was a beloved husband of 46 years to Elaine. Loving father of Caryn (Joshua) Schultz and Gina (Chip) Skonieczny. Dear grandpa of Felicity Schultz, Oakley Schultz, Shane Skonieczny, and Corbin Skonieczny. Cherished brother of Grace Dickerson and Sam. Uncle to Andrew, Frank, and George Dickerson.
Andy earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and began his career in music as a guitar instructor. During this time, he joined a band that played events such as weddings and Bar Mitzvahs. Through this endeavor, he met the love of his life, the band’s pianist Elaine. Andy later went on to teach at Walled Lake Schools for 29 years as the Elementary Strings instructor. He impacted countless lives during his time teaching.
After retiring at 55, he spent much of his time singing as a tenor with choir groups such as Heaven Connection and DTE Singers, traveling to various assisted living facilities in the area. Andy and Elaine enjoyed taking trips, most notably their 2023 cruise throughout Italy, France, and Spain.
Andy will be remembered for his kind, gentle, and quirky spirit.
A visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, from 4:00-8:00pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. A service will be held at the funeral home the following day, December 23, at 2:00pm.
