Alice V. Mantey, age 86, of Novi, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Robert (Audrey) Mantey, Jr., Linda Mantey, and David (Jenni) Mantey; her two grandchildren: Mark Mantey, and Claire Jakubiszyn; and her sister, Nancy Heida.
Alice was born December 6, 1937, in Detroit, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Oliver and Louise (Borrush) Tippery. She met the love of her life, Robert Michael Mantey, at the Lutheran Vet’s Club in Highland Park, and the two hit it off immediately. Eventually, Alice and Robert were married on April 28, 1962, sharing forty-five wonderful years together until Robert’s passing on April 12, 2008. Alice dedicated her professional life to a successful career as both a legal secretary, and more recently, as the secretary of the Westland Senior Center, where she retired after twenty years of dedicated service in 2003.
Dedicated to her faith, Alice was a devoted member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland since 1976, and was very proud to be an active member of the congregation. In her free time, Alice could always be found enjoying a good book; both on her own, or along with her friends in the Livonia Book Club. Some of Alice’s fondest memories were made on the various trips she took over the years; she particularly loved cruises, and enjoyed her experiences in both Alaska and Hawaii. Alice was a wonderful woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Louise; her beloved husband, Robert Michael Mantey; cousin Ralph Grogetsky and her brother-in-law, Marvin Heida.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5885 N. Venoy Road, Westland, Michigan 48185.
