With great joy, we celebrate the promotion and change of address for the beloved Agnes Marie Preston, 85, on June 3, 2022. Born April 21, 1937, to John and Mary Foley, Agnes grew up in Detroit, Michigan, with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Agnes graduated from Redford High School and was blessed to stay home and raise her 7 children, 2 of which she has recently been reunited with in heaven. She is preceded in heaven by her parents, siblings, Dorothy, John, Michael, and MaryAnn, her infant children, Mary and John, and her grandchildren, Daniel and Eric. Agnes leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Debra Meyers, Cynthia Ohlinger, Donald (Denise) Preston, Bonnie (Richard) Hayes and Shari Grayczyk, and 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren including one she has yet to meet. Agnes is also survived by her beloved niece and caregiver, Kimberly Bond and by her sister, Patricia (Jon) Bond.
Known as a women who loved Jesus and prayer, Agnes was devoted to praying for her family and friends and anyone in need. With a passion for Scripture, Agnes was a “boots-on-the-ground” woman, who gave a voice to the voiceless, the pre-born, refugees, abused, neglected, orphans, sick and poor. She walked in the peace and grace that comes from knowing her true identity in Christ and wasn’t moved by the shifting culture of the world. Agnes was courageous, outspoken, and fought hard, both on her knees and on the front lines.
Agnes left a legacy of faith that reflects her devotion to her best friend and Lord, Jesus Christ. She was active in her church and community and although her body eventually slowed down, her spirit continued to thrive and bless others. She believed in miracles and witnessed many. She believed in healing and saw many healed. She believed in forgiveness and forgave freely. She loved greatly and without expectation. Those she leaves behind, rejoice knowing that she is receiving the reward promised her for having run her race well.
We will be honoring this faithful woman of the Word and of the Spirit with a viewing on Friday, June 10 from 5pm-9pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road in Livonia, and with a celebration of life on Saturday, June 11 at 10am at the same place.
