Ruby Glassel turned age 92 and passed away peacefully in her Westfield, NJ home on December 27 surrounded by family and friends. She worked for many years as a teacher in Jersey City. Ruby was also on the board of the sisterhood and was a trustee at Temple Emanu-El of Westfield, as well as an officer for the National Council of Jewish Women.
Ruby was predeceased by her beloved husband Sidney and her sisters Anita (Al Eller) and Goldie (Donald Morchower). She is survived by her loving children Felice Zalk (Glenn Zalk, esq.) and Jeffrey Glassel, devoted grandchildren Jennifer Zalk and Andrew Zalk (Alison), cherished sister-in-law Madeleine (Kenneth Gimbel, MD), two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Ruby will be held Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Temple Emanu-El, 756 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090. Following the funeral service will be a burial at 11:30 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
