Nicholas A. Stabile, 84, of Glastonbury, CT, and formerly of Livingston, NJ passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2015. Nicholas was born in Orange, NJ on March 1, 1931, the youngest son of Anthony and Felicia (Mangieri) Stabile. He grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1949, where he was an accomplished cross-country athlete, leading his team to the State Championship in 1948. Upon graduation, he entered the banking profession, until he was called to serve his country as a Marine in 1952. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He then re-entered banking, while continuing his service in the Marine reserves until 1960. His financial aptitude enabled him to rise up through the ranks from teller to Vice President, until his retirement from the Trust Company of NJ in 1988.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Fred (Arsenio), and his sister Rose. He leaves his devoted wife of more than 61 years Marie (DeNicolo), his son Nicholas Jr., his daughter Carol and her husband Richard Rego, cherished granddaughters Chiara and Liana, and adoring nieces Elaine, Rosanne, and Phyllis, and nephew Anthony. A man of the highest integrity, he will be remembered for his gentle, kind and resourceful spirit, his love for his family, and of cooking, gardening, antique and coin collecting, and the NY Yankees.
Nicholas’ family will receive family and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave., in Livingston NJ on Friday, December 4 from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday December 5 at the Church of Saint Philomena, 386 South Livingston Avenue, in Livingston, followed by internment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
