Murray Sklar, 92, of Livingston passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016. Murray was born in Newark, NJ and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1943. He went on to serve his country as a Marine in the Second World War, fighting valiantly in the battles of Saipan and Okinawa. After his discharge as a Corporal on January 8, 1946, Murray went back to school to earn the credits needed for college. After marrying his wife Harriet, Murray went back to NCE for his Master’s degree and professional engineering license. Upon graduating, he took a job with Fada Radio and Electric. He was later hired by ITT Laboratories, where he worked on the first Talos missile program. When ITT moved to California, he was hired by Lockheed Electronics in Plainfield, NJ where he spent the rest of his professional career until he retired in 1990.
Murray is a past president of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston and a past president of TBS Men’s Club. He is a past Commandant of the West Hudson Marine Corps League and served 14 years as state Chaplain for the NJ Marine Corps League.
