Dr. Diamond was truly our family’s best ever dentist.  He was so gentle and caring to our family at every visit.

Dr. Diamond was apart of our lives for over 30yrs. We recommended him to so many of our family and friends and coworkers, and everyone always was satisfied with the treatment they were given.

Just visited my present dentist, and I thought about Michael, and looked him his name and saddened to find out that he passed away. Michael was my dentist since I was 12 years old, and he went on to treat my wife and our four children when we started out family. One conversation I had with a Michael amongst the many over the years was when I asked him why he stayed in Newark when many other medical professionals left the city. His answer spoke volumes about the kind of man he was. He stated that he had been a Newark kid himself, and the community was a loyal to him and contributed to his personal and 
professional success. He resolved that he 
started in Newark, and he would finish in 
Newark. To me that said it all about the 
person that Michael was.  I will always 
remember him as the greatest dentist ever
 and as a  loyal friend with a good heart.

I'm writing this from NC. Dr. Diamond was my dentist as a kid and I really looked up to him. I wasn't scared of anything as a kid except my father and needles in my mouth. On my first visit, Doc D expelled all those fears. Sending prayers and condolences to his family.

I had a dentist appointment this evening and as I always do, I think of Dr. Michael Diamond, or "Diamond" as I used to call him imitating the ladies in the office he worked in.  My heart is saddened to learn of his passing.  I just turned 62 years old and Diamond had been my dentist since I was 18 years old.  I was driving home tonight from my appointment trying to remember when he retired. I remember how sad I felt of him retiring.  I had moved out of the area, but always went back to Orange Street in Newark to see him.  We had good laughs  and after my dad died, Diamond shared a lot of fond memories and laughs between he and my dad. (Shame on you Diamond, playing the Howard Stern Show when my dad was there!! LOL).  I remember joking with Diamond about being my favorite dentist and he'd reply "Honey, I was your only dentist' and he was so right.  Always greeted me with a hug and a smile and those horses in the office he called his dogs. I'm very sad right now.... You are truly my only dentist, forever!!!

I’m shocked and saddened, I go back to the dentist and they asked me who did my fill ins I said Dr. diamond and the dentist who now occupy his office are amazed, that the fill ins are still there. I remember as a child being so afraid of the dentist. My mother found this wonderful man with the cool dogs who I would play with all the time. When I came. The very first time though I guess my mother told the dentist I was ver nervous and scared the prescribed me something that made calm so calm that on the way there my mother pulled the car over because I was so quiet lol. But he was the best and to me will always be the best. I miss him so much. I’ll be honest I went googling him to see if maybe he had another office because I really on trust him, and to come across this has sadden me on this Monday the 23rd of January 2023. My condolences to his family. I love you all, I know I’m a stranger but just how he helped me get over my fear of the Dentist if there is ever anything I can do anything I’m here my number is 9732042303

I still think of my cousin Michael (Mickey) VERY often and with great fondness.  He was one of a kind! Sending much love to his family on this anniversary of his passing.

My Sincere Condolences to the Diamond Family,

I just learned of Dr. Diamond's passing, which touched my heart. I was the biggest scary cat, but Dr. Diamond's office was peaceful as if you were going on a trip. Two big beautiful dogs greeted you, and they were the sweetest. The staff was just like Dr. Diamond, very polite, funny, and knowledgeable. I was bullied in school because of my teeth, and Dr. Diamond fixed my teeth, and I couldn't stop smiling. The crazy thing is I recently had work done somewhere else and was not too happy and reached out to a dentist friend to find him and was told that he had passed. May you all be blessed.

You knew how to make us all feel comfortable whether for a cleaning or a root canal and were worth driving to Roseville Ave for! You made an impact on so many lives and will never be forgotten. 

I’m very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. He was my family’s dentist until his retirement a few years ago.  He will always be remembered as a compassionate man and skilled dentist. 

My heart aches with sadness upon the loss of  Dr. Diamond , my ex-boss for over 20 years in dentistry, my friend,  my  hero who gave me loads of opportunities. I will always treasures the great and sad times we shared. I could also mention a million pages of how Thankful I was to have known him and his family. They were all always open hearts to me and my daughter.  
I may not have heard his voice in years but our special memories will always live in me. Dr. Diamond, "Until we meet again Rest In Peace."

The last time I saw Mickey was about six months ago.  He still remembered his early days of dentistry when he was half finished  pulling one of my molars and  I grabbed his arm and told him that I changed my mind and I was not going through with it!  "Just one more minute Jo, he said, and I'll be finished"  After he finished, he let me know that he almost passed out when I informed him of my request!  
 He was my brother in law and always Uncle Mickey to my children. We will miss him dearly.

Uncle Mickey was a wonderful uncle and dentist. My favorite memory is when I brought my son, Rocky and daughter Laura Jo to their second dentist appointment when they were 4 and 2 (now 33 and 31!) I stopped at the desk and said, they're here to see Uncle Mickey. Oh no, I was told, he wants to be called Michael now. But from his office at the end of a long hallway we see him standing with his hands out: "Kids! Come give Uncle Mickey a hug". That's who he was. Full of life, full of love and forever my Uncle Mickey.

Dear Diamond Family...We are so saddened by the loss of a great neighbor and friend. Michael was the shining star on our street and always had a smile on his face when we saw him.  He had a very easy way about himself and a terrific sense of humor, not to mention his many gardening talents!  We will miss him dearly and send you our heartfelt thoughts during this difficult time. Michael was good at sports (remembering good time softball games with sloppy joe sandwiches.) Despite being busy, he made time for people, naturally but powerfully projecting his love for them. Even as an 11-year old I felt this.

Dr Michael Diamond was my dentist, my husband's and my son Chris and my daughter Crystal's dentist for 28 years.. We traveled over an hour anytime we had a dental appointment, because we never wanted anyone else as our dentist. He became a friend... And he was like family to us! Hearing that he passed left us in shock.. So much so that I was in tears, my husband who shows little emotion was visibly shaken and emotional, my 30 year old son asked me... Are you serious?? No!!! My daughter 26 just said.. There will never be another like him! We will never forget you Dr Diamond! You were an amazing person .. And an amazing dentist and friend!!! Rest in Peace Michael

Michael was the closest in age (I was two years younger) to me and one of the closest distance wise. At one time we only lived about five blocks away from each other in Hillside. Even when I saw him in October I still called him Mickey. Force of habit I guess after all these years. I don’t think there are enough words to describe how happy, fun loving, friendly, generous and caring he was. It was quite obvious during the many eulogies at his service. He never had a cross word to say about anybody or even anything, that I can remember. We will miss him.

I've known Michael for 53 years. He was my best friend. He was the most upbeat, fun-loving generous person I have ever known. He had the ability to share his positive energy with all those around him. I'm going to miss him so much. I can't believe he's gone.

When I was in third or fourth grade, circa 1985, I had to write a few paragraphs about the person I admired most. For me, that person was my Cousin Mickey (as we called him back then). I still remember the last line: “My cousin can do anything!” About a month ago my parents happened to come upon the original copy in a file drawer, and they read it to Michael. They tell me he was shocked to discover someone had thought of him like that, and it made him very happy.

During the brief time that Michael had a CB radio in his sports car, his handle was Magic Man, and that's what he was to me when I was a kid. Not just because he had the coolest stuff (the waterbed, the plasma ball, the dial-up internet, the avant-garde art, and the funny bathroom books) but because he was the rarest combination of fun-loving, wise, kind, generous, affectionate, and cool. I was always struck by how very expressive Michael was when he spoke, and how he clearly and deeply cared about me, my parents, and my brothers. I miss him tremendously. He was one of the good guys, and he was my beloved cousin. Forty years later, he's still one of the people I admire most.

Dear Allison and Diamond Family, 

I met Michael my favorite and most kind hearted dentist through Al. I remember all the phone calls to his dear loving hunnie. In every call made to the office you could feel his smile, his welcoming words, and his kindness. Heaven has gained an angel. My deepest condolences to you all. 

My cousin MIckey has left us way too soon. Howard and I watched the zoom service and were greatly moved by all the  loving tributes. I have many fond memories of MIckey going all the way back to my childhood. When I was a kid and Mickey was in his teens (he was 5 1/2 years older than me), we went with my grandparents Helen and Morris and Mickey's parents Anne and Nat (Helen being one of Nat's many siblings) to Diamond Point (perfect name, right?) at Lake George in New York for a week. We spent our days hanging around the lake, going into town, and eating all our meals  together and had a grand time.  Mickey was also my dentist for many, many years, and I actually loved going to his office.  It was obvious that he treated his staff as well as he did his patients. He liked having fun with them and throwing parties in the office, like when everyone there would dress up for Halloween. I even liked that he had his pet dogs in the office, especially Coby.  He was just a genuinely caring, warm person and the absolute personification of a mensch. Howard and I send all our love and condolences to the whole family. We know you're all hurting right now. I met Michael forty-six years ago, how time flies. Michael was more than a friend to me he was my confidant and brother, who I never had. We played tennis many days in the park and golf one or two times in West Orange.  Our friendship was strong, no matter how long it was between phone calls or visits. We just picked up where we left off.  I was always involved in the many projects, but Michael allowed me to complete one. I look forward to the day when I can see his face and shake his hand again.  I will miss my friend.

Losing Mickey, who was the youngest of our eighteen  Diamond cousins, was like losing a younger brother.
