A bright light dimmed when Marianne Maguire Flanagan passed peacefully at home surrounded and held by her husband, Sean Flanagan, her mother Suzanne Maguire, and her sister, Kate Maguire Tedrick on August 19, 2022. Marianne passed due to complications from breast cancer, but throughout her battle showed that cancer does not define her.
Marianne was as beautiful inside as she was out.
As amazing an artist, she was, she was an even more amazing mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Marianne was happiest when sharing life with others, and never missed a party, especially for Halloween (memorable costumes include She-Ra, Catwoman, and Super Grover). It is debatable whether her voracious wit or cuddly snuggles were better at cheering up her family and friends.
Marianne loved an adventure, and travels included Portugal, Switzerland and Machu Pichu. An unsung hero of this country and our democracy, Marianne led a team responsible for revamping the method in which elections are reported to Associated Press.
She is survived and forever loved by her husband, Sean, her sons, William and Nicholas, her father Ken Maguire, mother Suzanne Maguire, brother Bob Maguire, sister Kate Maguire Tedrick, niece and goddaughter Lucy, mother-in-law Caroline Flanagan, sister-in-law Erin Flanagan, brother-in-law Brendan Tedrick, and countless family and friends.
A wake will be held at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 145 E Mt Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ on August 25, 2022, from 4pm to 8pm, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church 44 Benvenue Ave., West Orange, NJ on August 26, 2022, at 10 am.
