Joseph W. Zahn Jr. of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on January 1, 2023, at age 89. Joseph was born in Montclair, NJ on April 16, 1933, and grew up in Livingston, NJ. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1951 and earned a BS in Economics from University of Pennsylvania in 1955. From 1955 to 1958, Joseph served in the U.S. Air Force. After discharge, he joined his father at Zahn Real Estate and Insurance Agency and married Emma (Jarrell) Zahn in November 1959.
Joseph was an active member of Livingston Elks Lodge 1855 where he served as exalted ruler. He served as President of the Livingston Rotary club twice and received the Rotary Paul Harris Award.
He was also a member of the Board of Realtors of the Oranges and Maplewood and served as President from 1983-1984.
Joseph is survived by his wife Emma of 63 years, a son Jeffrey and his wife Brenda, a daughter Karen Steinert and her husband Walter. He was predeceased by his son Gregory Zahn. He is also survived by his beloved 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services shall be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in Livingston, NJ, on Saturday, January 14 from 11am to 12pm. Burial shall be private.
