Joseph E. La Bruzzo, 92, passed away peacefully in his home on September 19, 2019.
Born in Newark to the late Jasper and Joanne La Bruzzo, he lived in Brooklyn and Queens before moving to Bloomfield, NJ in 1952.
Joseph served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Seaman, Underwater Sound Lab technician. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 22 in Belleville and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Post #1178 in Bloomfield.
Joe was an entreprenuer and the owner of Fast-Stop Radio and Television in Passaic for 30 years and Joey’s Lounge in Lyndhurst, NJ. After closing in 1987, he went to work for Bell-Ridge Plumbing in Belleville, where he remained for 5 years, retiring in 1992.
He was the loving father of Linda De Rogatis and son-in-law Peter De Rogatis, cherished grandfather of Peter J. De Rogatis and his wife Ashley, and the late Tara Lynn De Rogatis and an adored great-grandfather of Leah, Bryce, Brooke Lynn and Paige, and former husband of the late Florence La Bruzzo (nee O’Keefe). Joe was a dear brother to the late Robert La Bruzzo, Marion Crecco, Joanne Redding, Carmela Meldon and Virgina Gilby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephrews.
The visitation will be on Monday September 30, 2019 at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, from 3-8 pm.
The funeral will commence at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 9:45 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rose of Lima Church at 11 am and the entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, both in East Hanover.
