Joseph S. Coiro, Sr.

Joe, 73, a devoted husband and cherished father and grandfather, left this world on Tuesday, June 13th, surrounded by family. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he later moved to Bloomfield, where he met the love of his life, Vera, whom he married in 1972. Together, they settled in West Caldwell in 1989, creating a warm and loving home.

Joe joined the National Guard in 1968 and earned his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1974. His career began at PSE&G in 1969, where he first showcased his unwavering work ethic. In 1988, he became a partner with his father-in-law, Felice Marzullo, at Elsan Fashions Inc.—a women's fashion tailoring company, for the renowned brand Calvin Klein. Together, they would contribute toward establishing the quality and esteem the Calvin Klein brand is known for today.

Later in life, Joe channeled his talents as an electrician, becoming a valued member of the John Dusenbery Co. and subsequently contributing his expertise to Royal Master Grinders Inc.

Above all, Joe considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest achievement, source of pride, and ultimate legacy. He treasured every day with them, finding pure joy and fulfillment in their presence. Joe's love for his family knew no bounds. He placed his family first every day of his life. Joe and Vera were an inseparable and devoted couple, serving as a shining example of unconditional love and commitment for 51 years of marriage.

Joe loved sports, movies, music, and vacationing in Cape Cod. Known for his sense of humor, generous nature, and genuine kindness, Joe touched the lives of all who knew him. In this time of profound loss, let us celebrate his life, and may his memory serve to remind us to cherish our loved ones and live each day by the values that defined him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rose, father, Sam, and father-in-law. Joe is survived by his wife Vera (nee Marzullo), son, Joseph Jr. and his wife, Michele, son, Steven, grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas, mother-in-law Matilde, and brother-in-law, Louis.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 4-8pm at LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Aloysius Parish, 219 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell, NJ with interment to immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
