2020. Born in Orange, Jack resided in Livingston with his beloved wife Dorothy for the past 60
years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Jack was a coach for a number of
youth sport teams, including coaching basketball for Mount Saint Dominic’s Academy and
various CYO teams, Livingston Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He worked for many years
as a salesman for Cleveland Cotton Products (CCP) before his retirement. Jack was active in
many groups, including the Livingston Old Guard, St. Philomena’s Church, and Our Lady of the
Valley Alumni Association. He was active helping his family ,whether with rides or around
their homes and cherished the time spend with his grandchildren, never missing one of their
sporting events or performances. Most of all, Jack was devoted to Dorothy in all that life
brought them.
Jack was predeceased by his sister Kathleen Melady. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60
years, Dorothy. He is also survived by his loving children; Anne Stock (Andrew), John Soley
(Fatima), Kathleen Soley (Glenn Farrell), and Mary Soley (Andrew Bria), as well as his
grandchildren; Helen, Patrick, and Margaret Stock, Joseph (Ana Rose), Teresa, and Paul Soley,
Andrew, Jack, Will, and Clare Farrell, and Katherine, Martin, and Bridget Bria. Jack also
leaves behind his sisters Ellen Hogarty and Mimi Hanlon, as well as nieces, nephews, and
extended family and friends.
Visitation will be private. Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 6 at 12PM at St.
Philomena’s Church, Livingston. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East
Hanover. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home,
Livingston.
