Joel was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts and grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He attended Rutgers College and then graduated from Rutgers Business School. He was a partner at Arthur Anderson, CFO of LF Rothschild and later owned his own brokerage firm MTR Securities. He belonged to Shackamaxon, Crestmont and Frenchman’s Creek Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene, his college sweetheart. They have 3 sons, Jason, Eric and Michael. 3 wonderful daughter-in-laws Philippa, Dana, and Yael and 8 grandchildren, Steven, Gabby, Rachel, Sarah, joseph, Sofia, Allie and Julia. He also leaves his brother Stanley and sister in law Janice and their children of Elizabeth and Scott. His family was the most important part of his life. He shared his endless wisdom and love with them. He and Irene treasured their time traveling with their family, spending quality time helping to create their special bond. He had many wonderful and supportive friends with whom he always shared life’s highs and lows. He was an optimist who loved life and lived every minute of it to the fullest. He was a philanthropic, appreciating what he had and wanting to give to others who are less fortunate. He and his family have a very special bond with Rutgers Athletics. He endowed the Miller Family Soccer Complex and locker rooms and was always wearing his scarlet red in support of the University. Funeral Services on Sunday, October 23, 2016, 1:00pm at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman, Livingston, NJ.
