Irene Constantino, 72, of Belleville passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Irene moved to Belleville after marrying Rocco Constantino in 1973. Irene was a Senior Attendance Manager for New Jersey Bell and Verizon for 35 years. She was also a cheerleading coach at St. Peter’s High School in Jersey City prior to her marriage.
Irene was married to Rocco for 28 years and their best memories included taking annual summer vacations to Wildwood, trips to Disney, family home movies and photos and hosting their large extended family for holidays. Christmas was Irene’s favorite holiday and she made it magical for everyone with special traditions, beautiful decorations, thoughtful gifts and the biggest Christmas tree she could find.
She enjoyed doing crafts, playing poker, creating themed bedrooms for her grandchildren and hosting the many friends of her children during their frequent visits. She especially loved America, sitting down with family for a meal and spending as much time as she could with her four beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Irene was always very proud of the accomplishments of her children and extended family.
Irene is predeceased by her husband Rocco, her parents James and Veronica Monahan and her brother John Gerard Monahan. She is survived by her children Rocco, Daniel, Gloria, James and Jennifer, her son-in-law Jesse Lopez, her daughter-in-law Angela Constantino and her grandchildren Eva and Daniel Constantino and Julianna and Rocco Lopez. She is also survived by her brothers Raymond Monahan and his wife Grace, James Monahan and his wife Neri and Thomas Monahan and sisters Mary Mulvey and her husband Steve and Barbara Monahan. She is also survived by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends who she loved dearly. Irene will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and extended family.
