Hyman Rubenstein, better known to his friends and loved ones as Hy, was born January 15th, 1923 in Warsaw Poland and lived a full life of ninety seven years. He came to The United States at the young age of six. It was in the sates where he met his first love, the New York Yankees. He was quite possibly, their biggest fan. Hyman was happily married to his wife Vivian for sixty glorious years. Together they raised three wonderful daughters, Ellen, Carol, and Wendy. He also adored being father-in-law to Joe, Lance, and Randy. From there, he became a proud grandfather to Eric, Ryan, Brian, Evan, and Danielle. In addition, Hyman was also a beloved brother and Uncle.
During WWII, Private First Class Rubenstein was stationed in England, one of the last remaining heroes of the greatest generation. As a child, Hyman was and avid softball player. In his later years, he loved to bowl and play pool. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to shoot pool when they came to visit over summer while he was enjoying his retirement in Florida. He loved the music of the forties and fifties especially Jerry Vale, Perry Como, and Eydie Gorme. Hy was even able to carry quite the tune himself. After moving to New Jersey to be closer to his family, he became an excellent trivia player. More than playing trivia, he loved to beat others at it and test their knowledge. Up until the end, he was as sharp as a tack.
Hy will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
