Elizabeth Dennis

Elizabeth A. Dennis, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bronx, N.Y., Elizabeth was raised in Newark where she attended Weequahic High School. After graduation she began working for Terry Fabrics where she met her beloved husband, Tom. Together they moved to Livingston 53 years ago.

Elizabeth was a “stay at home mom” for many years before returning to work as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed her job at Hammill & Gillespie until she retired ten years ago. She was a great cook, an avid reader, an accomplished shopper and a true friend to many. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Predeceased by her devoted husband of 58 years, Thomas Joseph, she is survived by her loving children, Brian Dennis, Marie Magi and her husband Mark, Lisa Smith and her husband Daryl, and Geralyn Dennis, and her adorning grandchildren Christina, Kirk, Kevin, Matthew and Christopher. She will be missed by her two siblings Robert Kurz and wife Ruth and Helen Scarpelli and husband Peter as well as many other family members.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13 from 4-8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. The Funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 14 at 9AM followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave., Livingston, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
