It is with great sadness that the family of Belma Repayo Abello announces her sudden and unexpected passing on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Belma died surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy of caring and compassion that will forever be remembered by those many people whose lives she touched.
Born in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines to Patrocinio and Florentina Magdamo Repayo, Belma studied Nursing at the University of the Philippines where she graduated in 1971. Nursing was her calling and Belma's life work revolved around being a caregiver. Belma came to the USA and had a long career working in the Emergency Room at St. James Hospital in Newark, NJ from 1974 to 2008, St. Michael's Hospital from 2008 to 2010 and then Morristown Medical Center as of 2010.
Belma will be lovingly remembered by her husband Enrique Abello and their two sons, Eric and Patrick Abello. Belma is the cherished sister of Aliena Rogan and her husband Rayland, Darlou Repayo and his wife Luz, Charles Repayo and his wife Anne, and Jennifer “Jean” Almario and her husband Prudencio. Belma will also be forever remembered as a fun-loving Aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews. She may be gone, but her spirit remains in the hearts and minds of every person who knew her.
Family and friends will gather to honor Belma’s life on Thursday, October 4, and Friday, October 5, from 4 – 8 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, October 6, 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church, 46 E Mt Pleasant Ave, Livingston, N.J. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J.
