She graduated from Bell High School in Gurdon, Arkansas where she met, then married her best friend's brother and high school sweetheart Johnny Lee Russey in August 1969. From this union they had a daughter Deborah J. Russey (Rickey) Marks. That matrimonial ended and she later met her soulmate Donald Ray Jones, they had two daughters Kimberly M. Jones and Brandy D. Jones (Marcus) Halliburton. After she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1982, she met Willie Nubine and they had a set of twins LaKesha I. Nubine (Shelby) Stephens and one stillborn baby boy.
Wanda accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour at Greater Sapp Memorial in Oklahoma City under the guidance of her Great Auntie Queen Esther Parks (Claude) Cooper.
On July 9th, 1995 she married her soulmate, forever friend, and life partner, Donald Ray Jones who preceded her in death along with her Father L.E Kennel, Mother Jerline Gamble-Kennel and both Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
She leaves here to cherish all of the wonderful memories her children as listed above, her siblings Charlotte Kennel (husband Jeff), Annette (Roger) Kennel-Williamson, Dianne Kennel (Jay) Foley, Mary Kennel (Patrick) Willis, Wynona Kennel, L.E. Kennel Jr, Rickey Kennel, and Randy Kennel. She also leaves Grandchildren Jennifer Marks, Jasmine Marks, Marquis Harris, Shaniah Davis, Brianna Jackson, Destini Davis, Aldrice Mcfee Jr., De-Kylen Stephens, two great-grandchildren Rickey Marks II, and Summer Edwards, Plus a host of Nieces and Nephews. All will miss her greatly.
A visitation for Wanda will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 PM, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204. A burial will occur Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Elmlawn Cemetery, 5900 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.
