Janie Jeanette “Jan” Long, 87, of Springdale, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. She was born in Nashville, Arkansas to Ernest and Betty Coleman on November 24, 1933. She grew up with her twin sisters and went to school in Nashville, Arkansas. In 1951, she moved to Little Rock and worked for the Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She met Robert E. Long while in Little Rock, and they were married in 1955. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Cynthia Ann in 1960 and Kimberly Kay in 1962. Following her husband’s passing, Jan lived in Frisco, Texas and was a member of the Frisco First Baptist Church where she enjoyed many friends and activities with the LLL Sunday School class. In 2015, Jan moved to Springdale, Arkansas to be with her family. Jan’s focus and priority throughout her life was toward her family and her church.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert, and her sister, Virginia Reese.
She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Cynthia Long and Kimberly McElroy, and her granddaughters Jennifer Hamilton, Sarah McElroy and Christina Long-Artmann. She is also survived by her sister Eugenia Duncan.
A private service for family will be held on January 30th in Little Rock at Griffin, Leggett, Healey and Roth Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
