Gregory was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Harrison High School in 1970, Hendrix College in 1974 and traveled extensively in Europe and then returned to attend UALR School of Law.
Gregory worked as a wilderness guide while in college, leading canoe expeditions in the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area of Minnesota. He paddled many miles in his beloved wood and canvas canoe “Misty”.
In 1973 Gregory met the love of his life, Stephanie, on a blind date. Years later they met again in 1981 and went on to marry in 1992. The two of them continued their journey until he finally went home in the early morning hours of July 6, 2022.
Gregory was a practicing attorney for most of his life, maintaining a solo law practice until in 2016, he relinquished his “Street Lawyer” status and went to work for the State of Arkansas where he worked as a Staff Attorney and Hearing Officer until his retirement.
Gregory was passionate about many things, including literature, theater, and film. He was a prolific author, penning countless poems, short stories, and treatises on many subjects. He was also a painter. His friends and associates are fortunate to have received many of those as gifts through the years. Gregory liked to think of himself as a Renaissance man and strove to achieve that status. He was a rare and unique individual and no one who knew him was unaffected. He will be missed. Gregory is survived by his beloved wife Stephanie, his sister, Edwina (David) Thomas of Marshall, Texas, nephew, Gregg (Laurie) Thomas, sister-in-law Karen Gilmore, brothers-in-law Joe Dennis Thompson, Phillip (Susan) Thompson, Brent (Carol) Thompson, nephews and nieces Rocky, Joe, Amber, Jessica, Nicole, Todd, Tim, Cara, Leah, Stewart, and Paige.
