Mr. Granville Reynolds

Granville James Reynolds, Sr. was born into this earthly world on January 29, 1933, to Elbert James and Pearl Reynolds. He left this world on February 17, 2023, at the age of 90. He was the oldest of 3 children. Granville was born in a time where much of life was spent outdoors, which is where he would spend most of his life. Rather than graduate high school, he took his father up on an offer that if he would join the workforce, he would help him procure land of his own. Granville was a smart man and knew that Land would be more valuable to him that a piece of paper. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 and served in the Korean War. He married his first love, Grace Wehunt on March 3, 1953, and together they had 3 children and enjoyed 38 years of loving marriage. He went on to work many years and ultimately retired from Arkansas Sheet Metal after 26 years of service in 1995. When his loving wife Grace fell ill, he cared for her until her passing in 1991. Although no one could replace Grace and his love for her, he found companionship and a new love in Grace’s best friend, Christine. They were married on 5/19/1994, and spent 17 years in wedded bliss. Grace was his first love, but Christine was his last. When Christine fell ill, after many years of being taken care of himself by his first and last loves, Granville himself became the caregiver for Christine. He loved her so dearly and being the one to take care of all of her needs gave him a new purpose that he had not anticipated. He adored her and their love for each other was magnificent to say the least. When she passed in 2011, he was at home with her as she left this world and went home to the loving arms of our Father. He mourned her worldly presence, but knew she was Home at last. He filled his time with his love of all things outdoors, which mainly included Hunting and Fishing. He was an avid gardener and loved his hunting dogs. In 2017 he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought it and won, because he had the old-world determination that you fight hard. And he did. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends, but particularly his grandsons and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than heading to the deer woods to hunt, but mostly to spend time with his loved ones. Of all the things that he missed the most in the recent years, hunting was one he missed the most. He bagged his trophy deer not long before he became too sick to venture out into the woods anymore, and was presented with a Triple Trophy Award from the Arkansas Game and Fish for harvesting a deer with his Bow, Muzzleloader, and Rifle at the age of 83.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Elbert James and Pearl Reynolds, his brother John Reynolds, his first love Grace, and his final Love Christine,

He is survived by his sister, Sheryln Ann Franks, 3 children Debra Wylie (Roy), Granville James Reynolds, II (Becky), and Sandy Wylie (James), along with his grandchildren, Michael Paul Wylie (Carie), Jason Knight (Dani Lee), David Wylie (Melissa), Granville James Reynolds, III, Ember Johnson, Melissa Reynolds, John Reynolds, Brittany Clardy (Matthew), and Josh Wylie (Amanda), Great-Grandchildren: Kamisha Burlingame (Blake), Waylon Wylie (Kayla), Mikaela Wylie (Cory Nodine), Parker Knight, Trapper Knight, Emma Grace Knight, Hayden Wylie, Corbin Wylie, Mallorie Isaacs, Alex Johnston, Wyatt Boyd, Jordan Boyd, Gavin Riedy, Jacob Riedy, Morgan Clardy, Wylie Grace Clardy, Braelyn Clardy, Madison Decker, Khloie Decker, Chevy Decker, Kensleigh Earles, Laykin Earles, Levi Wylie, and Noah Wylie. His Great-Great Grandchildren Koe Wylie, Scout Burlingame, and Ethan Riedy.

A visitation for Granville will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W 12Th St, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at New Life Baptist Church, 10765 Samples Road, Alexander, AR 72002. A burial will occur Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 12:45 PM at Lowe Cemetery, Royal, AR 71968.
