Bobby Joe Hunter was born January 6, 1950 and raised in Malvern, Arkansas. He was the fifth of nine children born to Ennis N. Hunter and Oradel (Sally) Hunter. He completed high school at A.A. Wilson High School in 1968_and attended college at Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas for three years. On May 8, 1971, Bobby was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Carrie Jean Diggins at Bethel A.M.E Church in Malvern, Arkansas. Together they raised three beautiful daughters and a son in the greater Little Rock area. Bobby was employed by 3M Corporation in Little Rock until he was diagnosed with cancer. Bobby was a man of few words, yet he exhibited strength of character and kindness that was known and appreciated by his co-workers, friends and family. He was always the first to volunteer to help a neighbor or a friend in need. Like his father, Bobby took pride in being able to “fix” and handle most projects on the job and at home. Bobby was also an avid reader and a historian. In recent years, he became genuinely interested in genealogy and had researched his family ancestry for several generations. He was a sports enthusiast, following both his favorite professional teams The New England Patriots and The San Antonio Spurs during his free time. More than anything, Bobby loved and celebrated his adoring family. He was the family’s pillar of strength and his wisdom will be sorely missed. We will always remember and cherish his goodness and the inviting “smile on his face” as we entered his den – and take comfort in knowing that he is at peace. Bobby is survived by this wife Carrie; his daughters Karen, Cheryl, and Crystal; his son Michael Hatley (Anita), grand-daughter Asia; two grand-dogs Diamond Diva and Maxi Denim. He also leaves behind three brothers, Montroy, Dennis (Mary), and Adrian (Gwen); three sisters, Carolyn, Betty, Katherine, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by this parents, and two sisters, Juanita and Myrtle. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Griffin Leggett Healey &Roth from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at the same location.
