Richard K. Falke passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, with his family by his side. He was 82 years old. Born on July 15, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Richard was the only child of the late Horst E. and Florence Arabia Falke.
A veteran of the US Army, Richard proudly served his great country. On October 7, 1962, Richard married the love of his life, Grace, and they just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
He had a life-long career in law enforcement beginning in New York City, where he was a police officer until his retirement in 1986. He and Grace vacationed for years in North Myrtle Beach so it was fitting that upon his retirement, they moved to North Myrtle Beach. Retirement didn’t last long, and he almost immediately began working for the Myrtle Beach Police Department before moving to the Briarcliffe Acres Police Department where he retired as Chief of Police.
Richard was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling. He was an avid gun collector, a marksman, and often taught others how to shoot.
In addition to being the devoted husband of Grace, Richard was the father of Deborah Peterson (Ed), Karen Marcano and Richard K. Falke. He was Poppy to his grandchildren, Eddie Peterson, Jr. (fiancé, Emily) and Joey Peterson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
