Margaret C. “Peg” McKelvey, 89, who loved to be called "Grandma" by her grandchildren departed her loving family and went to be with the Lord Jesus, Sunday, November 14, 2021. Born in New Kensington, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel Carroll Smith.
Peg worked for many years at Sears where she was in the finance and credit department. She was in the Ladies Oriental Shrine in Columbus, Ohio.
On July 14, 1951, Peg married the love of her life, Lee McKelvey. Throughout her 70-year marriage and her life, she was selfless in her acts of service to her husband, her family, and her friends. Peg enjoyed knitting and was in a knitting group with other women. They enjoyed sharing their work with others to include local Hospice organizations and donating blankets to the homeless. She enjoyed baking for those she loved and family nights were spent playing card games and sharing lots of laughter.
On November 14th 2019, Peg and Lee made Little River their home, moving from Columbus Ohio to be close to their family. They enjoyed the past two years being in South Carolina.
In addition to her husband, Lee, Peg is survived by her sons, Gary McKelvey (Janice), Tom McKelvey, Jack McKelvey (Diane); grandchildren, Tory, Bryan (Maiko), Brittany (Desmond), Heather (Kyle) and Kaylee (Luke). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Dawson, Ella Grace, Ellie, Hannah, Lillian Jane and Emma Kate. Peg was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Clements.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory.
