She is survived by her son, Justin (Martha) King; daughter, Amanda King; brothers, George “Skip” (Erika) Wallace, Scott (Holly) Wallace; sister, Kit Wallace and grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew and Luke King.
A graduate of Wilton High School (Fairfield County, CT), Linda received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and her Masters of Child Development from the University of South Carolina.
After visiting her Great-Grandparents yearly throughout her life in the Myrtle Beach area, Linda made North Myrtle Beach her home over 50 years ago. She had an outstanding career with child development beginning at the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base where she worked and managed the child care center. Upon the close of the base, she then purchased the building and operated it under the name The Carolina Child Development Center for the next 20 years. Linda advanced in her career becoming the Director of Child Development in North Carolina where she trained other educators throughout North Carolina until her retirement.
In her younger years, Linda enjoyed snow skiing and other outdoor activities, splitting her time between Aspen, CO in the Winter months and Myrtle Beach, SC in the warmer months. She was an avid reader, often devouring a book a day. Her three grandsons were the light of her life, and she enjoyed following their exploits with interest and deep love.
