John C. Murphy

John "Chris" Murphy 82 of Greenwood Lake, New York, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023 in Calabash, North Carolina. After a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Chris was born December 25, 1940 in the Bronx, NY. He served in the United States Marine Corp. 1960-64. Chris retired from MaBSTOA/NYCTA.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda whom he married on May 13, 1961. Children Christopher (Donna) Murphy, Doreen (Dale) Roberts, and Matthew (Michele Obrotka) Murphy. Four grandchildren Ashley Walker, Christopher Murphy Jr. Brittany Bates, and Stephen Murphy. Four step grandchildren Jessica, Kevin, Tyler and Logan Bach. Six great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. Godfather too many. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hannah Murphy. Chris was a lifetime member of the American Legion #1443 and The Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, New York. He enjoyed Nascar Racing, football, and sitting in his chair with a newspaper by the lake or by his pool. Above all else he loved his family and his country.

Funeral arrangements will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on June 12, 2023 at 11am. 1100 8th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29582

Burial with honors to follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. 65 East Highway 90, Little River, South Carolina 29566.

Luncheon to follow at Bridgewater Amenity Center. 600 Beech Fork Drive, Little River, SC
