John (Jack) Patrick Cosgrove, 80, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Calabash, NC. Born on May 12, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Marie Kelly Cosgrove. He was married for 51 years to G. Joan Cosgrove, who precedes him in death.
Jack was a 1953 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Jack served our country as a Marine and later in life in the Marine Corp League of Calabash, NC. He was employed for more than 30 years with Rohm and Haas Company, Philadelphia, PA.
In retirement, Jack enjoyed playing golf at Brunswick Plantation and being involved in the Marine Corp League, where he served many roles, including Commandant in 2012. Jack was a strong family man and loved living in the Carolinas with his wife Joan, where they developed relationships with many wonderful friends and their church.
Jack is survived by his son, J. Keith Cosgrove (Karen) of Wilmington, DE, daughter, Beth Conley (Jim) of West Chester, PA; brother Jim Cosgrove, sisters Maureen Cappello and Patricia McLaughlin; and three grandchildren, Cara, Ryan and Eric. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael Cosgrove.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, February 15 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium niche.
