Ernest Ernie R Derrick III

Born in Columbia, South Carolina on April 24, 1957. He was the son of Ernest Rene Jr. and Betty Browning Derrick. Ernie was a graduate of University of South Carolina and pursued a career as a real estate broker-in-charge and at Elliott Realty and developer.

Mr. Derrick was president of The North Strand Optimist Club, Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors, Cedar Creek Home Owners Association and on the Board of Directors for South Carolina Realtors and Advisory Board President for Sea Haven Inc.

He was also instrumental in the construction of the new Sea Haven shelter home and organized the annual fundraiser for 20 years.

Ernie loved spending time with his family; they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed sharing his interests with his children such as sports, scuba diving, boating, four wheeling, skeet shooting and Carolina Football & Basketball. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart.

Mr. Derrick is survived by his parents and wife of 35 years, Angela Boyd Derrick; daughter, Adrianna Grace Derrick; son, Joshua Boyd Derrick; and brother, Rusty Derrick.; wife, Sloan; and children, Jenny and Sydney.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center.
