Earl Sidney Sellers, age 93, of Little River, SC passed away on February 3, 2023. Earl was born in Little Rock, SC on March 28, 1929 to Charlie and Annie Bell Sellers. Earl is survived by his wife, Mary Thompson Sellers; children, Cindy Causey (Charles), Linda Adams (Charlie); brothers, Eugene Sellers (Jo Ellen), Jimmy Sellers; sister, Edith; grandchildren, Bryson Sellers (Jenn), Brenton Sellers (Amanda), Linleigh Parke (Chad), Preston Adams; along with his great-grandchildren Jameson, Dylan, Olivia, and James Sellers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard Sidney Sellers; his brother, Ed Sellers and his sister, Ellen Thompson.
Earl grew up in the Robeson County area. He served in the US Army. After serving in Korea he came back to Rowland, NC where he married his wife of 69 years, Mary Leona Thompson. Earl worked in many different fields from farming to business owner to carpenter. Throughout their married life Earl and Mary worked side by side. They opened a restaurant in Maxton. After selling it they moved to Cherry Grove Beach to begin a new adventure, managing VJ’s Motel. They later became part owners where they were one of the first to convert their motels over to condominiums. It then became Seaward Villas. During the offseason Earl would keep himself busy by working in the construction field. In 1989, Mary Little Lambs Daycare was born. This was a family run business which operated for over 20 years. He would often say that his favorite job was the time he spent helping at North Myrtle Beach Christian School. He was a vital part of reviving their baseball field. “Poppa Earl” as he is known to many was a positive influence on many children through the years.
Earl loved his Lord, his wife, his children and his family circle which included relatives as well as friends. He believed in working hard and being punctual. He loved to laugh and tell stories of his life adventures. Earl was a man of his word, dependable and loyal. He has made an impression on many and will be missed. Earl was a member of Wampee Baptist Church.
A celebration of life for Earl will be held at 11:00 AM on March 4, 2023 at North Myrtle Beach Christian School. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to North Myrtle Beach Christian School at 9535 Hwy 90, Longs, SC 29568.
