Barbie Ann Flock passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC at the age of 62. She was the loving daughter of Frank and Lillian Flock. She will be sorely missed by her siblings: Patricia Marquardt (Tom), James Flock, Michael Flock (Patrice), Gloria Nettesheim (John) and Richard Flock. Loving Aunt to 14 nieces and nephews. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Barbie was born on December 17, 1962, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. She graduated from Fall Creek High School (Wisconsin) in 1980 and earned her undergraduate degree in Business/Finance from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 1985.
Following College, Barbie took a marketing position with Glen Johnson in Chicago, IL as a buyer. After a few years, she took a position as a purchasing agent for the Village of Lombard, Il. Barbie found her stride working for Cook County where she began as a purchasing agent and was ultimately promoted to the head position of Supervisor, Purchasing Department for the entire county. At the time of her retirement from Cook County, her superiors would routinely come to her directly with the county’s most pressing and time sensitive contract requirements. Barbie always ensured the job was completed correctly and on time.
After her retirement in 2018, Barbie moved to South Carolina for the warmer weather and to be close to her sister Pat. Barbie loved little babies and many infants, nieces and nephews, were comforted by Barbie as well as several grand nephews and nieces. In retirement, she traveled within the US and abroad and adopted a doxiepoo puppy which she named Barnie in recognition of her name (Bar) and her twin sister Bonnie (nie).
Barbie was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
Barbie was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Bonnie, and nephew David Schaefer.
A memorial service is planned in Wisconsin for June 2025. Arrangements made by Lee Funeral Home.
