Roscoe “Sonny” Everett Redding, Jr., 74, of Woodridge, IL, previous long-time resident of Wauconda, IL, passed away on March 30, 2019. He was born in Macomb, IL, on August 23, 1944, to Roscoe Everett Redding, Sr., and Lola Clorine Sheets (nee Badger).
Sonny is survived by his daughter Dawn (Karl) Kalis, of Woodridge, IL, his son Scott (Ashley) Redding, of West Des Moines, IA, his three young grandsons Alan Kalis, Marshall Redding, and Miles Redding, his brother James Redding, Sr., of Fort Wayne, IN, his sister, Dolores (Robert) Galler, of Crown Point, IN, his half-brother, Timothy Sheets, of Patton, MO, his half-sister, Lisa (Ryan) Birmingham, of Cord, AR, and his aunt, Barbara Rial, of Macomb, IL.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan Arlene Redding (nee Rausch), his parents, his in-laws John and Luella (nee Karns) Rausch, his younger brothers, Glen Redding, Sr., and Dale Thomas Redding, and his older half-brother John Redding.
Sonny began working, in 1964, at his father-in-law’s tool sharpening business, Great Lakes Tool Service, Inc. When John Rausch retired in 1984, Sonny took over the management and operations of the business.
In his free time, Sonny enjoyed doing home repairs and yard work. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, including boating, snowmobiling, and coaching his son’s little league baseball teams.
Before moving to the west suburbs, Sonny was an active, long-time member of Ivanhoe Congregational Church, in Mundelein, IL. Upon the death of his wife, Sonny began actively attending Knox Presbyterian Church, in Naperville, IL.
Visitation at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Avenue (On Rt. 53, ½ mile south of Ogden Ave./Rt. 34) in Lisle, IL, on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 4 – 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Mt.
