Randy Travis Klafert

Randy Travis Klafert, 25, of Brookfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 9th 2012 peacefully in his sleep. He was serving his second term as a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC. The paperwork was being processed for him to be honorably discharged due to a severe knee injury. He would have gone home to be with his family after five years in the service on October 11th 2012.

He was born on January 6th, 1987 in Villa Park IL to Robin and Randy Klafert.

Randy attended Sardis High School in Boaz, AL, and graduated in 2005. He also studied Culinary Arts at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, IL. In 2007 Randy joined the United States Marine Corps Unit HMLA 167 as a Cobra Helicopter Mechanic. He served the first part of his four year term stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After an eight month tour in Afghanistan he obtained the rank of Sergeant.

Randy’s life seems too short to many, but those who were touched by him are coming to understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

He has left behind an impression to make goals and prioritize your life in order to make them happen. He encouraged others to not be afraid to work hard to turn their goals into a reality. Though obstacles presented themselves often in the path of his life, he saw them as challenges to overcome. When life’s circumstances threw knockout punches, Randy got right back in the ring and came out swinging.

Youngest in the family, dearest to his mother, beloved kid brother of three siblings and their spouses, forever young he will always be. Cherished in our memory, etched upon our hearts: the twinkle of his eye, the warmth of his smile, the heartiness of his laugh, and the extra squeeze he always gave at the end of a hug. He has a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.

Randy is survived by his mother Robin, brothers Angelo and Timothy Pulli, sister Binky Rainwater, sisters-in-laws Mary and Michelle Pulli, brother-in-law Glen Rainwater, and wife Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Klafert, who passed away in 1999. He was an uncle, friend, and playmate to 13 nieces and nephews. He also had many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends in many cities across this world that he held very dear to his heart. Visitation, Friday 5-9p.m. at Cypress Funeral Home, 1698 N. Bloomingdale Rd.
