Dan was born in Chicago to Philip and Cecelia Dore the third of five children. Dan met his bride of 62 years Joyce Frieders in Washington DC on their high school senior trip. They were married at St. Ann Church in Oswego, IL and settled down in Chicago. With four young sons they moved to Lisle and joined the community there and became lifelong parishioners at St. Joan of Arc Church. They were blessed with three more children who all attended St. Joan of Arc School. Dan quickly put his strong Catholic faith and passion for giving to the parish of St. Joan of Arc through volunteering, teaching confirmation students, being a lector at the 5:00 pm Saturday mass and eventually becoming a lay minister during morning services.
Dan also began coaching baseball in Lisle and then basketball at St. Joan where he guided many young men in basketball and in life. Dan also served on the Knights of Columbus and the Lions club. After retiring he joined his last mission, the McDonalds morning coffee club with other retirees and friends. Dan loved his books, crossword puzzles, old movies, storytelling, and coaching young athletes and minds.
Dan is survived by his wife Joyce, seven children (Bob, Rick, Mike, Marty, Annmarie, Julia and Dan) and his many grandchildren.
