Lovia Fro Linton was born on January 1st, 1949, in Falmouth, Jamaica, West Indies to Finlaytor William Lemuel Martin and Viola Julia Scott. Lovia came to the United States from Jamaica in 1965, with her family, where she settled in East Orange NJ.
Lovia graduated from East Orange High School in 1968. After high school she attended Essex County College and graduated with an associate degree in business. Upon graduating college, Lovia went on to work in the Banking Industry with over 40 years’ experience for companies such as Household Finance, Garden Savings, and Chase Bank.
Lovia was the most gorgeous vibrant woman, full of class, grace, style, and intellect. She was undeniably the life of the party and lit up every room she entered with her fabulous smile and unwavering energy. Lovia absolutely loved to entertain and was known for hosting extravagant parties various times of year where all her friends and family would look forward to classic Jamaican tunes, delicious Caribbean food, and her infamous Jamaican rum punch. Lovia had a green thumb; her home and garden was filled with lovely and exotic plants and flowers of which she took immense pride and joy in displaying.
Lovia was an immensely proud Jamaican woman who thrived off her involvement with several organizations including The Jamaican Organization of New Jersey (JON- J) where she served as the social media representative and spoke at the Jamaican Organization Independence flag raising ceremony.
Lovia understood the power of family and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She was an incredibly loyal and genuine person, and people always gravitated towards her. She was a lovely person, like her name “Lovia.”
Lovia married Alpheus G. Price on June 9, 2012. Lovia enjoyed being serenaded by Alpheus on many occasions, especially on the day they said, “I do!” They had a passion for traveling and visited various destinations. They danced from Trinidad, & Tabago to Beijing, China, and a host of destinations in between. Lovia and Alpheus had a beautiful bond that grew stronger and stronger as her last days drew near.
Lovia touched so many people who are left to mourn her passing. Lovia is predeceased by her sister Patrice Scott; she is survived by her devoted husband, Alpheus G. Price, her siblings Paul Scott, Andrew Scott, Tania Lummis (Steve), Michael Martin, Carla Martin and Baron Martin; her former husband Trevor Linton and their three loving children Lotrice States (Owain), Omar Linton (Eva) and Christopher Linton (Nicole) and their beautiful grandchildren Taylor States, Lia States, Talia Linton, Liam Linton, Chadwick Linton and a host of extended family and friends.
While our mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend has left us in the body, she will remain forever in our hearts where we will think of her lovingly for the life she led and for all the ways she touched our lives. We will always be grateful for the endless love that Lovia has given us.
