She graduated from Elizabeth High School, and attended Union County College, earning her Associates Degree in Nursing. She was in the process to become a Registered Nurse until she came out of remission 7 years ago, and the cancer became more aggressive.
Denise loved going to stores, and one may go as far as to call her a professional window shopper. She was always on the hunt for a great bargain. She loved to watch movies and was a sucker for romantic comedies (and it wouldn't be out of norm for her to shed a tear or two). She also loved Sci-Fi and Horror flicks.
One of her favorite activities was doing date night with her fiance, Geo. There normal routine included going to dinner at either Friday's or Red Lobster and catching a movie at the cinema.
Family meant everything to Denise, and she loved spending time at her parent's house with her kids, her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, niece and nephews. When she got sick, she stared spending a lot of time at her aunt Carmen's house and no matter how sick she got, she insisted on someone taking her over there almost every day, and if no one was able to take her she was brazen enough to attempt the trip on her own in secret!
Denise always had a smile on her face, and was genuinely a loving and caring person. Hence the career in nursing and wanting to help the sick. Although never diagnosed, her family secretly believed she had OCD; she was always cleaning her house, her parent's house or any family member she visited when the need arose. When she was sick, she could barely walk, but if she saw a piece of lint or food on the floor she would go out of her way to try and pick it up even at the risk of falling over.
Denise was the beloved daughter of Willis Dent, Sr., and Gudelina Dent, devoted mother of Tashayah Dent, Celena Dent, Luis Serrano, Jr., and DeAndre Serrano. Loving fiancee of Luis Serrano, Sr. (Geo), who she was with for 18+ years, cherished sister of Willis Dent, Jr., and his wife Raquel, and the late Nelson Dent (2019). Dear daughter-in-law of Lucy Rosado, cherished aunt of Jeremiah Dent, Ayden Dent, Isaiah Dent and Natalie Dent. She will be greatly missed by her large extended family; she was blessed to have over 50+ close family members and friends who were an active part of her life up until her passing!
