William “Bill” Benjamin Chaney III (age 78) was born in Nebraska City, NE on July 9, 1939 to William & Jennie (Runyon) Chaney. He grew up in Omaha, NE and attended Omaha South High School. Following high school, he was a member of the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1965. Bill met and married his wife, Peggy, in 1976 where they were united in marriage for 40 years. At the age of 19, he began his career as a truck driver and retired as a Teamster Member in 1999. After retirement, he volunteered at Premier Boating Center, Highlands Golf Course, and taught truck driving school at Southeast Community College. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 314 and Tangier Shrine Center of Omaha. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, cheering for the Huskers, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill passed away Monday, July 17th, 2017 at his home in Lincoln, NE. Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy Chaney, of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Tina (Dave) Dunham of Omaha, NE; son, Brian (Jennifer) Chaney of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren: Max & Drew Dunham and Gavin & Reese Chaney; sister, Jackie (Allen) Scott of Emporia, KS; special cousins, Roy, Dale, & Tony Chaney as well as many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, William & Jennie (Runyon) Chaney; brother, Larry Chaney; and sister, Karen (Chaney) Nelson.
