Ronald “Ron” C. Jensen, 81, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on May 23, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at Bryan Medical Center. Ron was born to James & Francis (Brandt) Jensen on September 5, 1941, in Neligh, Nebraska. He attended Randolph Public School through the 11th grade, at which point he moved to Utah and was employed as a cook at a restaurant for a couple of years. He then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was employed at Dobson Brothers Construction for 25 years. During this time, Ron met and was united in marriage to Mary Lou Fitz on January 7, 1967, in Lincoln. Ron continued working in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator at T&M Construction and Constructors in Lincoln for much of his life; he retired at 71.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking. Ron planted a large garden every year; when it became too difficult to care for, he gardened in containers on his front porch and in the driveway. Up until his last days, Ron cooked meals large enough to feed an army just so they would have enough food on hand in case someone happened to stop by for a visit. Ron enjoyed visits from his family and looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, mother & father in-law Leo & Mary Fitz Sr., sister Shirley Lindquist, aunt Doris Brandt, uncle & aunt Arnold & Jessie Brandt, and niece Ann Lindquist.
Ron is survived by his wife; Mary Lou, son; Curt (Kristi) Jensen of Gresham, and daughter; Kim Stutzman of Lincoln. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Victoria Jensen of Lincoln, Rebekah (Sam) Eilers of Firth, Malynda (David) Oborny of David City, Mariah Jensen of Osceola, Noah Jensen of Gresham, Kelsey Mundall of Lincoln, Ashley Mundall of Lincoln, and Tiffaney Stutzman of Lincoln; 12 great-grandchildren; Layne Tonniges (Lincoln), Bowen Tonniges (Lincoln), Dutton Vice (Lincoln), Evelynn Eilers (Firth), Maeve Eilers (Firth), Malachi Oborny (David City), Jayden Mundall-Lott (Lincoln), Justice Mundall-Lott (Lincoln), Jovonny Mundall-Lott (Lincoln), Adelina Mundall (Lincoln), Raelynn Stutzman (Lincoln), and Lorenzo Stutzman (Lincoln); brothers and sister-in-laws; Leo and Kim Fitz Jr. (Weippe, ID), Mike Fitz (Lincoln), and Darrel and Fran Krejci (Lincoln); and many nieces and nephews.
