Melvin Lee Nannen, 76, passed away January 19, 2019. Melvin was born January 31, 1942 in Lincoln to Lloyd and Doris (May) Nannen. He grew up with four brothers, Garry, Ronald, Roger and Earl. He attended Rose Hill grade school and graduated from Sprague-Martell Central High School in 1960. Melvin was united in marriage to his wife of 58 years, Sheryl Bamsey Nannen on December 2, 1960; they were blessed with 3 children, Brian, Becky and Brenda. Melvin was employed by Mitchell Farms then Gooch/ADM, retiring after 43 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, farming, sports and watching his western movies. Melvin is survived by his wife, Sheryl Nannen of Sprague; children, Brian (Mary Sue) Nannen of Lincoln; Becky (James Robinson) of Lincoln and Brenda Dow of Charlotte, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Scott Nannen, Presley Nannen, Scarlett Bailey, Jacob (Valerie) Brewer, Dustin (Ashley) Brewer, Tasha Brewer, Tyler Brewer, Dalton Dow and Chase Dow; 11 great-grandchildren, Janysa, Jacob, Journey, Taylor, Avah, Niyah, Coltyn, Kaleisha, Quinton, Jameson and Jaxton; his brother Earl Nannen; sister in law, Catherine Nannen; and sister in law, Doris Nannen, as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Harmony; brothers, Garry, Ronald, and Roger; sisters in law, Nancy Nannen and Rose Nannen; father and mother in law, Virgil and Beulah Bamsey and brother in law, Wendell Bamsey.
Services will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home (6800 S. 14th Street) in Lincoln, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
