Mary Evelyn (Moore) Birkmann, age 89 years, of Lincoln. Mary was born in Denton, Nebraska on January 23, 1929 to Walter Moore and Marvel Cole. Mary passed away on June 15, 2018. She graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1947. She married Glenn Lyman in 1947 and they later divorced. They had four children. She married Alvin A. Birkmann in 1971.
Mary worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant during the Korean War. Later she worked for Russell Stover’s Candy, Central States Drug Company and American Optical. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading and her many trips with friends to Las Vegas, plus traveling with her husband, Al.
She is survived by daughter Christine Lyman and daughter-in-law, Sharon Maricle of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Linda (Lyman) Svoboda and husband, Mark of Loveland, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Beverly (Burke) Lyman of Raleigh, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Alvin Birkmann; Son, David Lyman; Daughter, Peggy (Lyman) Jasinski-Allgood and her husband Robert “Bob” Allgood; Her parents, Walter and Marvel (Cole) Moore sister, Doris (Moore) Rule and husband, Frank “Lefty” Rule; brother, Russell Moore and wife, Juanita (Green); and sister, Phyllis (Moore) Jennings.
Services will be held at “Lincoln Memorial Park,” Lincoln, Nebraska at 10 am on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Visitation before service at 9:00 am. Memorials to the family and a charity will be chosen at a later date.
