She was born in Neligh, Nebraska to Daisy and Fred Rickert on September 18, 1932. She grew up on a family farm near Neligh and then in Lincoln with her brothers Ray and Elven, and sister Marion. Lived in Richfield Minnesota for 27 years where she raised her children. She was married to Francis “Tuffy” Lake and they lived in Michigan briefly and then Mountain View for last the 18 years and previously in Michigan.
Joyce enjoyed painting with the Mountain View Art Guild and was an excellent seamstress owning many sewing machines. Joyce and Tuffy completed many wonderful trips across the country in their Airstream. Joyce was a generous friend, sister, and above all a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by husband Tuffy Lake, children Brenda Gries (Dan), Allen Dye (Trudy), Tom Dye (Karen), Chris Lake (Liz), Ken Lake (Debbie), Carl Lake (Denise), Fran (Bill); Grandchildren Casi (Mike), DJ (Michelle) and Austin Gries, Hailey (Luke) and Hannah Dye, Jake and Chris Dye (Ashley) ; great-grandchild Eveliina (Hailey and Luke).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Daisy and Fred Rickert; brother, Elven; son, Jeffrey.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 24th, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Mountain View Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Brother Everett Ramsey will be officiating the service. Lincoln Visitation will take place Saturday, January 29th, 2022, 11:00-12:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Graveside Service to follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. 6700 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE.
