Born in 1951 in McCook, Nebraska, Jane was the daughter of Bill and Millie Fager. In her early years she lived in several countries including Ethiopia, the Philippines, and Thailand. While working at Square D she attended Doane College in Lincoln and earned her bachelor’s degree.
In 1982, Jane married the love of her life, her husband, Harvey Bieber. They were blessed with two children, daughter Sara and son Robert. Jane was a devoted mother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was also an active member of her community, volunteering at the VA, at Calvert Elementary School, Pound Middle School, and Southeast High School. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and American Association of University Women.
Jane believed strongly in the equality of all people. She fought for the rights of people of color, minorities, and LGBTQ issues in particular, and was a lifelong advocate for women’s rights.
Jane will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, intelligent, and loving person who always put others before herself. Her go-to phrase of encouragement was “dazzle ‘em with your style”. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Harvey, her children Sara Stark (Bob Stark), Robert Bieber (Heather Spurgin), her grandchildren Ridley, Marrah, Miley, and Sutter, her sister Nancy Bolsen (Mary Kay Siefers), sister Barbara Satchell, her brother and sister-in-law Red Bieber (Jackie Bieber), and sister of the heart Connie Stark.
Jane is preceded in death by parents, Bill and Millie Fager, sister and brother-in-law Becky and Jim Olson. Jane will be buried surrounded by family at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of life for Jane will be announced for the spring.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at 4511 Lowell Ave, Lincoln, NE 68506. Please join us in celebrating Jane Bieber’s wonderful life.
