James (Jim) Dean Mayer, age 71, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on May 24, 2023. He was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on February 27, 1952 to Verlin and Gertrude (Schroeder) Mayer. Jim graduated from Washington High School in 1970. In 1984 he married Christy Wayland. He entered the workforce in Washington working for a painting, siding, and gutter installation company before moving on to his own carpenter business for several years in Washington. In 1990 he and Christy separated and in 1991 he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he was a finish carpenter with Hampton Enterprises until his retirement in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents Verlin and Gertrude Mayer and his brother Dennis Mayer.
He is survived by his older sister Marilyn (Pete) Dach, his other sister Pat Heser, and his younger brother Robert Mayer, along with 11 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
