Bonnie “Elaine” Oberg (Jones), 69, of Douglas, Neb., went to heaven on Saturday, February 14, 2015 to join her husband Lanny. She was surrounded by family in prayer at her home, which she called “Happiness Ranch” when the angels called her. She was born in Seneca, Kan. on April 11, 1945 to Lloyd W. and Stella E (Ruse) Jones. Elaine was raised on a farm near Goff, Kan. and graduated from Goff High School in 1963. After high school she studied to be a beautician in Topeka Kan. On March 20, 1964 she married Creston Hittle and was blessed with three sons. They raised the boys in the areas of Concordia, Sabetha and Seneca Kan until 1978. A move to Lincoln Neb. gave Elaine the opportunity to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital and support our military heroes. Elaine married Lanny Oberg in 1982 where they resided in Walton, Neb. Elaine continued to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital till her retirement in 2011. Shortly after retirement she was enticed find her roots again and move back to the country with her son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Terri. Her retirement years were filled with time for her family and beloved animals. She adopted and spoiled numerous dogs, cats, goats, cows, a donkey and a miniature horse. Elaine is survived by her sons, Kevin Hittle (Mary) of Wahoo Neb, Chris Hittle (Heidi) of Concordia Kan. and Shawn Hittle (Terri) of Douglas Neb. Elaine had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Sister Jean Burns and brother Wesley Wayne Jones. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, Neb. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family present. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Lincoln Humane Society and Douglas Neb. Senior Center.
