Dennis Ray "Denny" Craig, 80, of Valparaiso, Nebraska, passed away on June 21, 2024 in Lincoln. Born on December 3, 1943, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he was the first child to Raymond and Miriam Craig.
In 1961, he graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School and then attended the University of Nebraska. On August 17, 1962 in Sydney, Iowa, he married the love of his life, Donna Craig (née Lee Boiler), with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
His professional journey included significant roles such as an office technician at the State of Nebraska Department of Roads and later at Mid America Web Press. Denny spent the remainder of his career in the paper press and printing industry, contributing to various companies and leaving a notable mark in each role.
In his personal life, Denny was a passionate sports enthusiast. He participated in football and wrestling during his high school years and continued to enjoy a variety of sports throughout his life. His passion for sailing was particularly notable; he was an active member of the Lincoln Sailing Club and participated, along with Donna, in Snipe Class sailboat racing. Additionally, Denny loved the outdoors, often going camping and fishing with his family.
In retirement, Denny and Donna, found joy in their acreage in Valparaiso, Nebraska, where they cared for many small animals. This quiet, peaceful time allowed them to enjoy life to the fullest in their years together.
Denny is survived by his son Aaron Craig (Katherine); sister Cindy Smack (Larry); brothers Neal Craig, and Lyle Craig (Patricia); grandchildren Amber Hudson, Brett Craig, Cory Craig, Emma Craig, Evan Craig, and River Craig; 4 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Angie Craig (widow of Matthew Craig).
Denny was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Miriam Craig, beloved wife Donna Craig, sons Marcus Craig and Matthew Craig, and brother Paul Craig.
Details regarding memorial services will be announced later. The Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska, is assisting the family during this time. Denny’s life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a beloved husband, devoted family man, passionate hobbyist, and cherished by his family and friends.
