David D. Cook was the first-born son of Richard and Marilyn Cook. He passed away March 23rd, of this year. David was born in Milton, FL. At the age of one, he and his family moved to Chula Vista, CA. David's father, Richard was in the Navy and was stationed in Japan for 16 months. In the meantime, David and his mother lived with his grandparents, Frank and Cora Cook, in Chula Vista, CA.
After Richard came home from Japan, the family moved to Norwalk, CA, where Richard was employed at the Los Angeles Times Newspaper. Dave went to school from kindergarten through high school in Norwalk. At the age of 17, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a Navy Seal in the Philippines.
In 1975, David married Juanita Alvarez. To this union, a daughter, Christy Copeland was born. David married Stephanie Riley, and to this union, a son, Joshua was born.
In 1998, David met the love of his life Lisa Kahler. They were married on March 24th, 2000. Lisa was the woman Dave had been waiting for all his life.
Dave was a fun-loving guy that would be there to help anyone at any time. He was forever telling jokes and teasing someone, especially his wife Lisa, his grandkids, step-grandkids, his Mom, and even their little dog, “Scooter.”
David was in construction for over 32 years. He took a job with Home Depot for several years. In all his jobs, everything had to be done the right way. He took pride in any of the work that he did. After he retired, he was forever in the garage building something and he enjoyed teaching other guys how to build or repair.
David was preceded in death by his father, Richard, his grandparents, Frank and Cora Cook, his grandparents, Albert and Clara Muehling, uncle Glen, and uncle Larry Gydesen.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Lisa, his mother, Marilyn, his brother, Bruce, sister, Vickie, his son, Josh, his daughter, Christy, aunt Janice, uncle Eldon & aunt Nan, uncle Kenny, aunt Betty, his grandson, Bryce, nieces and nephews, Maci, Tyce, Kendal, and Ricky. Step-children, Mellissa & Jason, Holly & Mat, Daniel & Jess, step-grandchildren, Chasity, Cayla and Carter, Layla, Miranda and Hunter, Lily and Derrick, numerous cousins and friends. Dave will be greatly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
Public Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, 2:00pm, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park.
