Charles Conn Savidge, “Old Chuck”, aged 91, of Lincoln passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021.
He was born on September 9, 1929 in Callaway, Nebraska to Joe and Cecil (Conn) Savidge.
He was a graduate of Callaway High School and Milford Trade School, majoring in HVAC-R Tech. He excelled in basketball, in both trade and high school. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, teaching refrigeration school at Fort Belvoir, VA. He was a member of Southminister United Methodist Church, Refrigeration Service and Engineer Society (RSES), Footprinters, and American Legion Post 3.
In 1956 Old Chuck co-founded and co-owned Chapman Savidge Refrigeration Service with Roy Chapman continuing until Roy’s death in 1982. His sons joined the business and they worked together until his retirement in 2019.
He was an avid fishermen and Master Angler. He was also an excellent pheasant hunter and enjoyed being with his family. He was renowned among friends and family for being a teller of humorous tall tales.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon (Wilcher), daughters Char (Mike Rittenhouse) of Atlanta, and Sue (Joe Livingston) sons Chuck (Lorri Fisher), and Blake (Marilyn Forst) all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Sean of Fort Worth, Kayla, and Hallie of Lincoln. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Louise and infant son Steven.
