Charles W Hoskins

Chuck was born in Enders, Nebraska to Wayne and Liz Hoskins. His love of fishing and hunting started in that small community and continued throughout his life. After his freshman year at the University of Nebraska, Chuck entered military service as part of the Army Security Agency in Washington, D.C.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hoskins of Lincoln; children, Heather (Matt) Schmidt of Lincoln, Ashley (Nathan) Johns of Nashville, TN, and Denver (Lindsey) Hoskins of Lincoln; grandchildren, Norah, Austin, and Veronica Schmidt, Iain and Izetta Johns, and Attia and Jaxson Hoskins; and brother, Jack (LeAnna) Hoskins of Hot Springs, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elizabeth Hoskins.

Chuck graduated with distinction from the University of Denver and began his career with Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte) in Denver, CO. That is where he met his wife, Marilyn Hoskins. After working in Denver for nine years, they moved to Corpus Christi, TX and then to Nebraska to open the Lincoln office of Deloitte and Touche. He was the director of audit operations of the Nebraska/Iowa practice for eight years. Chuck and his family moved to Tokyo, Japan in 1982 for a five-year assignment as the senior international partner. In this position he was the lead audit partner for all multinational companies in Europe, Asia, Japan, and North and South America. He also advised many companies on opening operations and economic development offices in Japan, including the states of California and Colorado. Following his experience in Japan, Chuck served as the National Director of Japanese Business Development, headquartered in Los Angeles.

Upon retirement from Deloitte & Touche in 1990, Chuck split his time between homes in Jackson Hole, WY and Lincoln, NE. He remained active in the business world as an advisor and board member to new and existing businesses until he completely retired in 2012. His time abroad gave him the opportunity to travel all over Asia and visit countries all over the world.

Chuck was a visiting instructor at Sophia University, Tokyo, and California State University, Los Angeles. He was also an instructor at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln for the Masters of Professional Accounting program.

During his career, Chuck enjoyed being involved in many civic activities. He was on the Executive Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and Chairman of its Invest U.S.A. Committee. Other activities included the board of directors of the Tokyo American Club, Nishimachi International School, and the American School in Japan. He was also involved with the Americana Japan Society of Tokyo and Southern California. Locally, he served on the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board, The County Club of Lincoln Board and the University Club Board. He was also actively involved with the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Chuck loved adventure and spent much of his free time outdoors. He was an avid fly fisher and participated in the annual One Fly competition in Jackson Hole, WY. He also loved to hunt pheasant in Nebraska and Kansas.
